From the heart of West Nile, a boxing story is rising and it is built on discipline, sacrifice, and big dreams. Abdul Aziz Hard, popularly known in the ring as “Ringo,” is fast becoming one of Uganda’s promising boxing talents as he prepares to represent the nation at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Ringo’s journey is one of persistence and belief. Selected from more than 800 boxers across Uganda, he sees his call-up as both an honor and a responsibility to represent not only his country, but also the West Nile region that shaped his fighting spirit and determination.

He is part of the Uganda Bombers squad of six athletes heading to Glasgow for the commonwealth games 2026, a balanced team made up of four men and two women. The men’s lineup includes Kemis Ibrahim, Ojok Alfred, Batte Nuhu, and Ringo himself, while the women’s team features Nakalema Emily and Katushabe Angel. Together, they carry Uganda’s hopes onto one of the biggest sporting stages in the world.

The Uganda Bombers Squad 2026
For Ringo, boxing is more than competition , it is a journey of growth. He credits every past fight as a learning experience that has shaped his mentality and sharpened his skills. He believes pressure is handled through hard training, discipline, and strong self-belief.
His inspiration comes from legendary champions such as Mike Tyson, whose power and mindset motivate him to push beyond limits. With that inspiration, Ringo dreams of reaching elite international levels and one day competing among the best in the world.
In 2025, he represented Uganda at the Africa Zone 3 Championships in Nairobi, where he earned a gold medal ,an achievement that boosted his confidence and strengthened his ambition for greater success.
Now heading toward Glasgow 2026, Ringo’s focus is clear , to improve, to compete, and to make his region and country proud. He emphasizes teamwork, prayer, and discipline as key parts of his journey, giving credit to coaches, teammates, and supporters who have stood by him.
From West Nile to the world stage, Abdul Aziz “Ringo” Hard carries a message of hope and determination. His goal is simple yet powerful , to raise the Ugandan flag high and inspire the next generation of boxers back home.
