Onduparaka FC head coach Geoffrey Akena has resigned after a winless start to the 2026/27 FUFA Big League season.
The 47-year-old CAF B-licensed tactician, who took charge of the Caterpillars in August, announced his departure in a letter dated October 27, 2026, citing circumstances beyond his control and personal reasons requiring his attention.
Akena leaves Onduparaka without a win in four matches, 2 losses and 2 draws while conceding 7 goals. The poor run has piled pressure on the Caterpillar’s Ondu2UPL promotion ambitions.

Despite his departure, Akena wished the club success, highlighting its role beyond football.
“I hope Onduparaka continues to unite its supporters, inspire young people and create a lasting impact in the community and beyond,” his letter reads.
Onduparaka Football Club had not issued an official statement by the time of publication, although sources close to the coach confirmed his resignation. Efforts to reach the club’s management for comment were unsuccessful.
The Caterpillars must now regroup ahead of their next league assignment against SC Volcanoes in Kisoro District on November 1, 2026.
With their promotion ambitions under pressure, Onduparaka face an urgent task to turn their fortunes around and get their season back on track.
