From Pakwach in the West Nile sub-region to recognition in Uganda’s women’s football, Angel Auki Kigongo is building her profile through performances for Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women Football Club and appearances in the national team setup.

Kigongo’s inclusion in the 2025/2026 Women’s Football Best XI marked another milestone in her career, recognising her contribution during the previous season.

The recognition came at the Women’s Football Symposium, which provided a platform to acknowledge achievements and discuss the development of women’s football.

Her second Woman of the Match award of the season 2026/2027 highlights her growing presence in the domestic game.

At Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC, Kigongo operates in the attacking midfield position, a role that requires creativity and the ability to connect the midfield with the forward line.

Her three goals this season underline her contribution in the final third, while her latest individual recognition came after the club’s 1-1 draw against She Corporate FC on Matchday Four.

As the season progresses, her performances will remain important to Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC’s campaign.

Beyond club football, Kigongo has also had an opportunity to represent Uganda at the national team level.

She recently featured in the Crested Cranes squad that played against Zambia at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, and in Ndola Zambia during the LA 2028 Olympic Football Qualifiers.

The experience placed her within Uganda’s senior women’s national team environment, providing an opportunity to compete alongside players representing the country on the international stage.

Her involvement with the Crested Cranes, combined with her club performances, adds another dimension to her football journey.

Her journey also brings attention to the football talent emerging from West Nile and the players contributing to the continued development of women’s football in Uganda.

With three goals already scored this season, Kigongo will be looking to maintain her form and continue contributing to Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC.

For the midfielder, the focus now turns to building on these achievements and making further contributions as the Women’s Super League campaign continues.
