FUFA Kicks Off Women’s Super League Revolution through a Launch.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has taken a bold step towards transforming women’s football in Uganda with the official launch of the FUFA Women Super League Commercial Strategy (2026–2029).

Uganda is among the only two Member Associations globally selected by FIFA under the FIFA Women’s Football Programs to benefit from focused commercial development support ,a recognition that highlights both the potential and progress of the women’s game in the country.

The commercialisation process began on 11th ,December 2025, with a FUFA Women Super League Commercialisation Workshop which was held at FUFA Hotel in Kisasi. The workshop brought together key stakeholders to lay the foundation for a structured and sustainable commercial roadmap for women’s football in Uganda.

The strategy was officially launched on February 10, 2026, at Imperial Royale Hotel by FUFA President Eng. Moses Hashim Magogo.

“As FUFA, we are in women football intentionally ,we have introduced the Women in Football programme to bring more women into the game and to further develop women’s football in Uganda. I call upon prominent Ugandan women and men to support women’s football in different capacities because this is about giving another Ugandan the opportunity to use their God-given talent,” FUFA President Eng. Moses Hashim Magogo stated at the launch.

The event marked a defining moment for the women’s game, signaling a shift from steady growth to intentional commercial transformation.

The Roadmap of 2026–2029 is structured into four progressive phases:

Year 1 – Foundation and Launch: Establishing strong governance, branding, and commercial structures.

Year 2 – Expansion and Growth: Increasing visibility, partnerships, and league competitiveness.

Year 3 – Diversification and Professionalism: Enhancing club operations, revenue streams, and professional standards.

Year 4 – Sustainability and Leadership: Building long-term financial stability and positioning the league as a regional leader.

The roadmap aims at strengthening league operations, improve club capacity, attract sponsors, and elevate the FUFA Women Super League into a commercially viable and competitive product.

The launch attracted key football stakeholders, including FIFA delegates Solomon Mudege and Doreen Nabwire. A case study presentation was delivered by Tigres Vice President Carlos Valenzuela, offering insight into successful commercial models in women’s football internationally.

Also in attendance were the FUFA Executive Committee members, as well as administrators from both women’s and men’s clubs, this looked like a reflection of the unified approach required to grow the women’s game.

Women’s football in Uganda has experienced visible growth in recent years, from improved league organisation to increased participation and rising talent. However, stakeholders acknowledge that progress must now be backed by deliberate commercial investment, structured marketing, and professional systems to ensure sustainability.

The newly launched strategy is a commitment to empowering players, strengthening clubs, and creating economic opportunities within the women’s football ecosystem.

As Uganda continues to position itself as a rising force in women’s football, the 2026–2029 commercial strategy sets the tone for a future defined not just by participation, but by professionalism, visibility, and long-term benefits.
