Former UPDF FC forward Farid Rashid has capped off a remarkable 2025/26 campaign in style after helping Somali side Gaadiidka Football Club finish the season as champions, he who recently completed the Uganda Premier League season with UPDF FC, made a move to Somalia that few football followers saw coming. The forward has, however, quickly made his mark in his new environment.

His form has been particularly impressive, with Rashid scoring nine goals in 11 matches for Gaadiidka FC. His performances earned him further recognition after he was named the club’s Player of the Month for the month of July.
Gaadiidka completed their campaign with a victory yesterday, sealing a memorable season and giving Rashid another major achievement to celebrate.

Before his move to Somalia, Rashid featured for UPDF FC in the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season, where he scored three goals.
That means Rashid ended the campaign with a productive spell with two man of the matches accolades , a hattrick against Al Jazira FC and a brace in the Somalia League showing his ability to adapt quickly and contribute in different football environments.

From Bombo with UPDF FC to becoming a champion in Somalia, Rashid’s journey has taken an unexpected but exciting turn.
His move may not have been widely anticipated, but his performances in Somalia suggest it was a move that has worked out remarkably well.
Nine goals in 11 matches, individual recognition and a league title , Farid Rashid has certainly given himself a season to remember.
