This Sunday, 27 September 2026, the FUFA Big League gets underway, and West Nile will once again have four clubs carrying the region's hopes — Onduparaka FC, Paidha Black Angels SC, Calvary FC and newcomers Pakwach Young Stars SC.
So, what lies ahead?
For Onduparaka, last season was a close call.

The Caterpillars survived relegation after Paidha Black Angels defeated Nebbi Central, a result that confirmed the Royals' drop to the West Nile Regional League.
That experience appears to have sparked change.
Onduparaka brought in Akena Geoffrey as head coach and added players including Okocha Rashid, Abiti Moses and Otwii Victor following several departures notably their top scorer Ade Brian to Lugazi Fc ,Kedi to Paidha Black Angels and other players whose contract were not renewed.
The club has also been preparing beyond the pitch, recently partnering with Fabrica Lounge and holding a refresher course for players and technical staff on the laws of the game.
And the message from the Caterpillars remains clear — Ondu2UPL.

Their journey starts away from home against Kiyinda boys at Bertham Recreation Grounds on Sunday.
Then comes one of the fixtures many West Nile fans will be watching closely — Onduparaka against Paidha Black Angels.
For Paidha, the story is different.
The Blacks came painfully close to promotion last season, only to miss out on the final matchday.
That disappointment remains fresh.
Coach Twinomatsiko will now hope his side can finish what they started. Paidha have added Moses Kisakku from Bunyaruguru United, although several players (9) from last season have moved on, including Opar Jacob to Ntungasaze and Otwii Victor to Onduparaka.
The club has also strengthened its connection with the community through a talent-identification outreach programme.

And with the MOU between Paidha Black Angels SC and Paidha United, which will bring the two clubs and fans together at Bar Okororo Stadium, the Blacks are looking to build an even stronger matchday atmosphere.
Their season begins away to Kaaro Karungi at Kyamate Playgrounds.
Then there is Calvary FC.
After a difficult 2025/26 Premier League campaign that ended in relegation, the Yumbe-based side now begins the long road back.

Calvary recorded just four wins in the top flight last season and have since seen some key players depart, including Olaboro Lawrence.
The task now is to rebuild and compete.
And finally, the newcomers.
Pakwach Young Stars SC are stepping into the Big League for the first time, and they arrive with plenty of belief.
The Believers earned promotion after a strong Regional League campaign and a successful playoff against Pajule Lions. Jalal and Victor played crucial roles in the decisive comeback that secured their place in the second tier.
But there has already been change.
The coach who guided them to promotion, Samson Ceaser Okhuti, left the club in August.

Now, a new chapter begins.
Pakwach Young Stars will make their Big League debut away to Iganga United at Prime Vocational Institute Playground on Sunday, before hosting their home matches at Luo Grounds in Nebbi.
And that is what makes this season interesting.
Onduparaka want to rise again. Paidha want another shot at promotion. Calvary want to return to the top flight. Pakwach want to prove they belong here.
And when these West Nile sides meet, it will not just be about the three points. It will be about pride, rivalry and bragging rights.
The road to the 2027/28 Premier League season is long.
But on Sunday, the first steps will be taken.
