TRANSFER REPORT: Express FC Strengthens Squad with Calvary FC Duo and Key Midfield Additions
KAMPALA | February 13, 2026 – Express FC has bolstered its roster ahead of the second half of the season, completing the double signing of Marvin Praise Wambuga and James Ssemambo from Big League side Calvary FC Midigo.
The duo, who initially joined Calvary at the start of the 2025/26 campaign, saw their stay in Midigo cut short after just six months to join the Red Eagles on the top-flight stage.
Familiar Faces for Coach Jimmy Kintu
The recruitment marks a significant reunion for Express FC head coach Jimmy Kintu. Kintu previously managed both Wambuga and Ssemambo during their time at Uganda Christian University (UCU) and coached them earlier this season at Calvary FC. This existing rapport is expected to fast-track their integration into the first team.
Marvin Praise Wambuga: A robust central defender, Wambuga brings experience from the Masaza Cup (Kyadondo), the Regional League (Kira United), and the University Football League (UCU).
James Ssemambo: An experienced offensive midfielder with a diverse CV, Ssemambo has played for Kyetume FC and enjoyed professional stints abroad with Bumamuru FC (Burundi) and Nairobi City Stars (Kenya).
Further Reinforcements
The Red Eagles have been active in the mid-season window to address squad depth, also confirming the arrivals of:
Gift Ali Abubaker: The veteran midfielder brings leadership and top-flight pedigree.
Shafik Lugolobi: Joins on a loan deal from URA FC to add defensive versatility.
Marvin Nyanzi: Another creative addition to the midfield ranks.
Next Fixture
The new signings could be in line for their debuts as Express FC prepares for a Valentine’s Day clash against Entebbe UPPC FC. The match is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, February 14, at the newly refurbished Nakivubo Stadium.
