FUFA BIG LEAGUE: Hope Arrived Early, But Victory Slipped Away Once Again

FUFA BIG LEAGUE: Hope Arrived Early, But Victory Slipped Away Once Again

Onduparaka FC’s search for a first win in the 2026/27 FUFA Big League season continues after a frustrating 1–1 draw against Rwenzori Lions FC at Green Light Stadium on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

The Caterpillars made a bright start, with Moses Abiti opening the scoring in the seventh minute following a neat combination with Jonathan Mugufeni. But despite taking an early lead at home, Onduparaka failed to secure all three points.

Alfred Leku impressed on his debut, showing energy and determination, but his efforts could not inspire the hosts to victory.

Rwenzori Lions remained resilient and found their reward in the final 15 minutes, scoring a late equaliser to earn a valuable point on the road. The match had also experienced a delayed kickoff following a kit clash between the two sides.

The result increases the pressure on Onduparaka FC head coach Geoffrey Akena, whose side continues to struggle for consistency. With no win in their opening four matches, including two draws and two defeats, the Caterpillars have plenty of work to do to revive their campaign.

For a club eager to challenge at the top, dropped points at home are becoming an increasing concern.

Onduparaka FC must now regroup ahead of their next assignment, an away fixture against SC Volcanoes in Kisoro District on November 1, 2026.
