Kitara FC and Uganda Cranes striker Muhammad Shaban have mutually agreed to part ways, bringing an end to his stay at the club just five months after his arrival.
Shaban joined the Hoima-based side on February 19, 2026, as a free agent following his exit from Ethiopian outfit Ethiopian Coffee . The experienced forward signed a two-year contract and was expected to bolster Kitara's attacking options as the club targeted a strong finish to the season and prepared for continental football.
However, his time at the Royals was hampered by injuries, limiting his opportunities to make a significant impact. He managed some Uganda Premier League appearances, scoring his goal coming in Kitara's dramatic 2-1 victory over Lugazi FC.
The striker's departure was confirmed after both parties reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. Neither Kitara FC nor Shaban has announced his next destination .
Shaban leaves Kitara with an impressive football résumé. The former Uganda Premier League Golden Boot winner has previously featured for KCCA FC, Onduparaka FC, and Vipers SC , while also enjoying spells in Morocco, Libya and Ethiopia. He has also been a regular member of the Uganda Cranes setup.
His exit is part of Kitara FC's ongoing squad restructuring ahead of the 2026/27 season and the club's CAF Confederation Cup campaign, with the Royals expected to continue strengthening their squad during the current transfer window.
