Matchday 30 of FUFA Big League features the Greater Nebbi derby, one of the most watched football fixtures in the football loving region of West Nile and Northern Uganda at large.
The match day will see close town neighbors cum arch rivals Nebbi Central and Paidha Black Angels take to the pitch in a match which the result will definitely define the season of both clubs and decide their fate as well.
The home team, currently 11th on the log with 34 points from 29 games, 1 point below fellow West Nilers Onduparaka Fc and only 1 point above relegation zone which means they are mathematically not safe from the red zone and will need to get maximum points from the derby in order to survive and remain in the league for another season.
Nebbi Central having gained promotion last season has exceeded expectations especially in the early stages of the season, however a mixture of results in the closing phase of first round which continued to the second round has brought the team’s progress to a stand still and are currently caught up in the fight for relegation.

The team has been in good shape in front of goals, witnessed by the output of their pacy forwards like captain Edema Sabiri registering 12 goals to his name and wingers Munguromo William and Ocirchan David both tied on 7 goals in their maiden season in FUFA Big League.

Winger Munguromo william has scored 7 goals so far this season.
The Challenge however seems to be their back line with the team having a negative goal Difference of -6 goals, despite having high scoring attacking forward line.
A big blow to the home Side is the unavailability of their captain and top scorer, Edema Sabiri who received matching orders in their previous game against Iganga United which they lost 3:0 at Iganga Sazza grounds.

Captain Edema Sabiri will miss the match through suspension.
The Blacks comes to this encounter with a fully fit squad and high team spirit after a victory over Nwoya based club Young Elephants Academy, coming from behind to beat them 2:1 at the intimidating fortress Bar’Okoro stadium.
Currently sitting 5th on the table, just one point behind Kataka Fc and are will be hoping to get the job done at Luo grounds in order to keep their hopes of promotion to UPL alive.

Paidha Black Angels are 5th on log, just 1 point shy of promotional slot.
The blacks however rely heavily on balanced team play, defensive discipline and thunder quick counter attacks initiated by quick and pacy forwards.
forward Opar Jacob has been in good shape having scored in their last 2 consecutive home games and accumulated 6 goals this season, the clubs’ top scorer followed by Jangeyambe Joel with 5 goals.

Paidha Black Angel’s top scorer Opar Jacob with 6 goals.
The visitors boasts of a highly impressive defense line, backed up by a record 14 clean sheets, the highest ever they have recorded at any competitive level, since the club’s inception in 1979.
What makes it more interesting is the fact that this single fixture can decide the fate of both teams as Nebbi Central needs a win in this game to be assured of a spot in FUFA Big League for the season 2026 - 2027 meanwhile Paidha Black Angels needs a win to boost their chances of Qualifying to UPL next season.
The fixture promises intense moments beyond the rivalry as it now seems to be a fight for survival and supremacy at the same time in the same stadium.
