Uganda picked up a point today in the opening game of the 2026 CAF African Schools Championship at the Gateway High School playground in Zimbabwe.

Edema Bashir's strike was all Uganda needed after the hosts Zimbabwe capitalised on their only chance of the game to break the deadlock at the start of the second half.
Head Coach Hassan Zzungu considers the draw a consolation as his team had aimed for a result beyond just that.
"The game was so disappointing after creating so many chances and managing to score just once. Our opponents created one chance and put it away. A point is not bad," Head Coach Hassan Zzungu lamented.
"We gave our best during the opener as we pushed for maximum points but a draw against the hosts is a consolation," he added.

Uganda are represented by East African Zone champions St. Mary's Boarding School Kitende. They sit in Group A alongside Zimbabwe (hosts) Morocco and DR Congo.
Their next games are tomorrow against DR Congo at 1PM and Morocco at 4PM.
The previous edition was won by neighbours Tanzania.
