In Bombo at the Bombo Military Grounds , Emmanuel Anyama delivered yet another decisive moment for KCCA FC, scoring a crucial late equalizer to inspire a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over UPDF FC as the title race intensifies with only two matchdays remaining.
KCCA FC looked headed for a frustrating evening after Emmanuel Ochen gave UPDF FC the lead in the 36th minute. UPDF, currently sitting 14th on the table with 21 points, defended resiliently for much of the contest as they searched for valuable points in their fight near the bottom of the standings.
But with pressure mounting late in the game, Anyama stepped up once again for KCCA.
In the 87th minute, the forward calmly finished from a Herbert Achayi assist to level the score at 1-1 and reignite KCCA’s hopes. Just a minute later, Katenga Openga completed the turnaround in the 88th minute to hand KCCA all three points in dramatic fashion.
The former Adjumani Town Council FC and Kaaro Karungi FC striker was named Man of the Match after another influential display, continuing his impressive rise at KCCA FC.
The victory keeps KCCA firmly in the title race as they remain second on the table with 58 points mean while 61 points for Vipers SC, setting up a tense finish to the season with only two games left to play.
For UPDF FC, the defeat leaves them in a difficult position in 14th place, with the battle for survival becoming increasingly intense heading into the final stretch of the campaign.
With the pressure at its highest, Emmanuel Anyama once again proved to be KCCA FC’s clutch performer when it mattered most.
