Pakwach Young Stars FC gave the record holders Express FC a run for their money in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, but ultimately, the experienced side prevailed. The young stars took an early lead through captain Onen Vivian, who converted a spot kick just before half-time.
Express FC equalized in the second half, and the game ended 1-1, sending the match to a penalty shootout. In the shootout, Express FC proved too strong, winning 7-6 to advance to the round of 32.
"It was a tough match, but we managed to dig deep and come out on top," said an Express FC official. "Pakwach Young Stars FC gave us a good fight, and we respect their efforts."
Pakwach Young Stars FC will now shift their focus to the West Nile Regional League, while Express FC will look to build on their momentum in the next round of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
