Ntungasaze FC finally got their campaign up and running with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mbarara City FC in Matchday Five of the 2026/27 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Opar Jacob proved the difference in the 28th minute, rising brilliantly to head home Tekakwo James’s curling cross from the left flank into the top-right corner.
Mbarara City struggled to find a response, and their hopes of a late comeback suffered a major blow in the 82nd minute when defender Ambrose Arinda was sent off for serious foul play after an earlier caution.

The victory marked a crucial turning point for Felix Ssekabuza’s side, who had lost their opening four matches and desperately needed a positive result.
Ntungasaze will now aim to build on their breakthrough when they host KCCA FC at Kiira Road Police Arena on October 13.
