Pakwach Young Stars' remarkable journey reached its crowning moment on Saturday, June 20, 2026, as the West Nile regional giants fought back to defeat Pajule Lions 2-0 at Luo Grounds, sealing a 2-1 aggregate victory and earning promotion to the 2026/27 FUFA Big League.
Having suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat in the first leg at Pajule Grounds in Pader, the odds appeared stacked against the Believers. But champions are defined by how they respond to adversity, and Pakwach Young Stars responded with courage, character, and unwavering belief.
The breakthrough arrived in the 15th minute when star midfielder Adnan Jalal, returning from a minor injury that ruled him out of the first leg, curled a breathtaking free kick beyond the helpless Pajule goalkeeper. The strike ignited Luo Grounds and brought the aggregate score level, setting the stage for a dramatic evening.
With thousands of supporters roaring them forward, Pakwach Young Stars continued to push for the decisive goal. Their reward came in the 55th minute when defensive stalwart Okumu Victor rose highest to power home a perfectly delivered corner kick, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations and putting the hosts ahead on aggregate ( 2-1).

Despite entering the match with a first-leg advantage, Pajule Lions found no way through a disciplined and resilient Pakwach defense. Their qualification means second-tier football returns to Pakwach for the first time, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the district's football story. Pakwach Young Stars will now join regional rivals Paidha Black Angels FC, Onduparaka FC, and Calvary FC in the 2026/27 FUFA Big League.
