28th April 2026 at the Hamz stadium under the floodlights , Fred Amaku stepped up when it mattered most , scoring a crucial second-half equalizer against his former side to earn URA FC a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Maroons FC in an entertaining clash.

URA found themselves chasing the game after Maroons struck first through Ivan Mayanja in the 23rd minute, assisted by Brian Nkuubi. However, URA responded quickly, with Bruno Junior Bunyaga leveling matters in the 28th minute after being set up by Dissan Galiwango.

The second half brought more intensity, and Maroons regained the lead in the 58th minute through Darius Ojok, who finished off a well-worked move assisted by Marvin Oshaba.

Reflecting after the match, Fred Amaku said, "Firstly I thank God for the point, it wasn’t the result we wanted but I was on the score sheet. My major aim was to get three points. As a player, you need to motivate yourself even when things don’t go your way. I also want to appreciate our fans who are always behind us."

With URA pushing for a response, the introduction of Aliro Moses Okabo proved decisive. The substitute made an immediate impact, providing the assist for Amaku’s 69th-minute goal. Fred Amaku showed composure and sharp finishing to bring URA level once again against his former club, ultimately securing a point for his side.

Despite late efforts from both teams, neither could find a winner. Maroons’ Darius Ojok was named Man of the Match for his standout performance, while Amaku’s decisive contribution ensured URA avoided defeat.

On the current StarTimes Uganda Premier League table for the 2025/2026 season, URA FC sit 11th with 25 points, while Maroons FC are 9th with 34 points, reflecting a gap between the two sides despite the closely contested draw.

The result leaves both teams sharing the spoils after a competitive and evenly matched encounter.
