Mungudit scores first at the Renovated Kisugu Ground as Lugazi head into Round of 32

Lugazi FC booked their place in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 after a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Kisugu United FC in a landmark fixture at Kisugu FC Playing Ground (Kiwuliliza).

The match marked the first official game played at the venue following its renovation, adding extra significance to the occasion.

Lugazi FC made a strong start and took the lead in the 18th minute when a Kisugu United player inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Lugazi doubled their advantage in the 26th minute, with Freedom Mungudit calmly finishing to put Lugazi firmly in control.

The contest shifted in the second half when Lugazi FC were reduced to ten men in the 71st minute after Freedom Mungudit received a straight red card. Kisugu United responded by pulling one goal back and dominated spells of play as they pressed for an equaliser.

Despite the late pressure and numerical disadvantage, Lugazi FC remained organised and disciplined defensively, seeing out the match with composure until the final whistle.

The 2–1 win sends Lugazi FC into the Round of 32, keeping their Stanbic Uganda Cup campaign alive, while the renovated Kisugu FC Playing Ground officially reopened with a competitive and memorable fixture.
